Fashion retailer H&M has signed up for Henry Boot’s £65m Ayr Central, which is due to open by Christmas 2005.
H&M will open its first store in Ayr in a 20,000 sq ft unit within the 200,000 sq ft retail scheme.
A street with a town square at its centre will run the entire length of the development to link the existing retail area and the railway station.
A 500-space underground car park will connect directly to the A79 and motorway network.
Other occupiers will include Debenhams (80,500 sq ft) and Next (20,000 sq ft).
Alan Kinloch, regional development manager for Henry Boot Developments Scotland, said: “We have recently gone under offer on two other units with a further four in negotiations and our lettings programme is well ahead of schedule.”
Retail agents for the scheme are Springford & Co, Culverwell and Jones Lang LaSalle.
