Donaldsons appointed Buchanan Galleries’ managing agent

Henderson Global Investors and Land Securities have appointed Donaldsons as managing agent of their 600,000 sq ft Buchanan Galleries shopping centre in Glasgow.

Bryan Duncan, head of retail at Donaldsons, said: “We are delighted to be extending our relationship with two major shopping centre owners, following on from our association with Britain’s most exciting shopping destination – the Birmingham Bullring.”

Buchanan Galleries is the largest city-centre shopping centre in Scotland. It has over 80 retailers and around 2,000 car-parking spaces.

The centre, which opened in 1998, is anchored by John Lewis and Sainsbury’s and attracts around 20m customers a year.

In April 2004, a planning application was submitted to double the size of Buchanan Galleries which, when completed, will take the floor space to over 1.2m sq ft, making it one of the largest city-centre shopping centre in the UK.
