Five developers shortlisted for Hastings housing scheme

Five developers have been shortlisted for a housing scheme in Ore Valley, Hastings, East Sussex.

The companies competing for the 677-home scheme are: George Wimpy, Crest Nicholson Developments, Persimmon Homes (South East), Countryside Properties (Southern) and Bellway Homes.

The successful company will form a joint venture with local developer Sea Space to build the homes.

Sea Space is the development company of Hastings Millennium Community, one of seven Millennium Communities managed by English Partnerships (EP).

Private sector investment has been secured to finance the programme in addition to £60m of government funds from English Partnerships, South East England Development Agency, the Higher Education Funding Council for England, and from Europe through the Government Office for the South East.

Henry Kennedy-Skipton, senior regeneration manager at English Partnerships, said: “We are working with our local partner, Sea Space, to ensure the delivery of a quality development that meets the needs of Hastings’ residents as well as the high standards required by the Millennium Communities Programme.”

EP has committed £15.1m to the project for land acquisition and infrastructure in the Ore Valley.
