Millennium Communities to deliver 950 new homes

English Partnerships have announced that four Millennium Communities are to deliver an additional 950 homes this year.

The total will comprise:

● 400 more homes at New Islington, Manchester

● 200 at Allerton Bywater, near Leeds

● 200 at Greenwich, south-east London

● 150 at Telford, in East Ketley.

Margaret Ford, chairman of English Partnerships, said: “Producing a real step-change in the way houses are planned, designed and constructed is an ambitious goal and it takes time, so I’m delighted to announce that a further 950 quality homes, a state-of-the-art school and many new community facilities will be under construction this year, as part of this exemplary programme.”

The announcement comes two weeks after planning permission for Allerton Bywater was granted.

The Millennium Communities Programme aims to build 6,000 “quality new homes” by 2010 and 9,000 in total.
