Administrator receives 36 bids for collapsed store group

Almost 40 bids for all or parts of collapsed department store chain Allders have been received by administrator Kroll.

Joint administrator Alastair Beveridge said: “We received a total of 72 expressions of interest for the business and 52 sales packs were sent out as a result.

“As of this morning, we have received a total of 36 separate bids, either for the entire business or for parts of it,” he said.

“We are currently assessing the bids to determine how to progress with the sale of the business. During this process, the stores will all remain open and will continue to trade.

Jon Moulton’s Alchemy Partners is thought to be the only bidder for the entire company and is said to have tabled a bid of around £75m.

Bids for single stores or small groups are likely to have come from retailers House of Fraser, Debenhams, John Lewis and Primark.

Although Kroll is keen to sell Allders as a going concern, industry experts said it is much more likely that the group will be split up.
