Danish furniture retailer ILVA has appointed Colin Haggerty as chief operating officer of its UK division in advance of its first opening in this country.
Haggerty has worked at directorial level at retailers B&Q, Warehouse, Superdrug and Marks & Spencer.
Martin Toogood, ILVA Group chairman and chief executive, said: “Colin is a dedicated and passionate retailer whose people skills and broad business experience will be critical to building a chain of ILVA stores in the UK.”
ILVA will open its first store in the UK in Manchester this autumn and has also agreed to buy Marks & Spencer’s failed £40m Lifestore building in Gateshead for £35m.
The company plans to open 20 stores across the UK over the next decade.
