Crest Nicholson takes control of decontaminated Bristol site

Crest Nicholson has taken ownership of the final 7-acre piece of land needed to complete the regeneration of the Harbourside area of Bristol.

It says the former gasworks site in Anchor Road has been cleaned of contaminants by SecondSite and Transco and is now in a condition that will allow construction work to start.

The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, was agreed at the start of the project but depended on successful remediation work.

Jason Schofield, development director at Crest Nicholson, said: “It is a significant step for Harbourside. This is the first time the land has been wholly in one ownership.

This will enable the co-ordinated regeneration of the area into a thriving community where Bristol people will live, work and play.”

The anticipated total value of the project is £300m, with completion scheduled to take place by 2007.

Crest Nicholson was advised by a legal team from CMS Cameron McKenna, as well as DTZ Tie Leung and King Sturge.
