Firemen feel the street

A team of six firemen in the Manchester area donned their helmets and boots, strapped on a harness, and towed a removals van through Withington and Didsbury high street, encouraging passersby to reward their efforts with a donation to St Ann’s Hospice.

The firemen, from Green Watch, Manchester Central, and Red Watch, Gorton, were taking part in the grand opening of homes4u’s estate agency lounge in Withington.

Homes4u CEO Carolyn Mellor said: “Rather than just have a normal opening event, we thought we’d recruit the Green Watch and Red Watch teams and raise money for St Ann’s Hospice. We’d like to say thank you to everyone who gave cash.”

The lounge will conduct property sales and letting business and property management business, but will also contain an internet bar and a coffee lounge.

Homes4u also plans to offer “surgeries” at the lounge. These will involve experts speaking on a variety of subjects of interest to people looking to buy, rent or sell property. Topics to be covered include making your house more saleable, understanding mortgages, and buy-to-let advice.
