Plans submitted for next phase of Stoke-on-Trent scheme

Plans have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent council for the fourth phase of Dransfield Properties’ Tunstall East regeneration project.

This phase of the scheme will stand on the site of the former Wedgwood Alexandria Works. As well as over 80,000 sq ft of additional retail space, there will be a doctors’ surgery.

JJB Health & Fitness has signed up for 22,500 sq ft and plans to include a gym and swimming pool in the store.

As well the JJB unit and another 60,000 sq ft of shops, Dransfield is working with the North Staffs primary care trust to include a new 25,000 sq ft surgery.

At the same time, Stoke-on-Trent council has given English Partnerships the go-ahead to redevelop the nearby Chatterley Whitfield colliery as offices and training facilities.

Approval has also been granted to widen the access road, which will allow more buildings to be brought back into use in future phases.

Both sites form part of £20m regeneration plans for a 288-acre swathe of brownfield land to the north of Stoke-on-Trent.
