Robin Priest, co-founder of property outsourcing specialist Mapeley, joined Deloitte this week as a real estate partner.
The accountancy giant is eager to do more work with owner-occupiers in the public and private sectors, which it estimates own £400bn of UK property.
Priest a banker who founded Mapeley in 1999 with Soros Real Estate Partners, Fortress Investment Corporation and Jamie Ritblat’s Delancey left the business 12 months ago.
He said: “It’s exciting to be at the centre of fundamental shifts in the property world and to bring to bear the expertise of acting as a strategic consultant and a financier over the past 25 years.”
Priest steered Mapeley to win the Inland Revenue and Abbey outsourcing deals.
However, new contracts dried up in the face of growing competition from Land Securities Trillium and negative publicity after it emerged that IR’s buildings were held in a tax haven.
Priest, who became deputy chairman in 2002, left after chief executive Jamie Hopkins began making straight investments.
