Knight Frank is to open an office in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, after poaching Tim Waring from the local branch of Carter Jonas to run it.
The move means the company will go head-to-head with Carter Jonas on residential sales in north Yorkshire.
Waring, a former equity partner at Carter Jonas, was head of the company’s residential operations in the county and had been at the firm for nine years.
Waring said: “After so many years and much success at Carter Jonas, I felt it was time for a fresh challenge. Knight Frank has an unparalleled reputation and this is a wonderful opportunity for me.”
Julian D’Arcy, head of Knight Frank’s regional operations in the north, said the appointment would strengthen Knight Frank’s presence in the northern residential sector.
He added: “We are delighted to have Tim on board. We consider it a major coup in attracting him and it will further enhance the reputation of our country residential operation.”
Knight Frank’s Harrogate office is expected to open with four staff in place.
