Former Chesterton chairman Mohammed Jafari-Fini has upped the stakes in his £20m High Court battle over the collapsed property consultant.
This month, Jafari-Fini was given permission to extend his claim against Skillglass, which financed his £12.9m Chesterton buyout in 2003, to include its parent company Resurge. The move brings him a step closer to adding financier David Rowland – who controlled Resurge before it followed Chesterton into administration – to the action.
In a separate hearing, the High Court ruled that Jafari-Fini, who will represent himself, is entitled to access legal documents being held hostage by his former solicitor, City firm Seddons.
Evans-Lombe J granted Jafari-Fini access on the condition that he reserve £45,000 of any court awards to pay Seddons’ bill.
Jafari-fini v Seddons Chancery Division (Evans-Lombe J) 9 June 2005.
