Treasury Holdings lands Ritz Carlton for Wicklow scheme

Treasury Holdings has landed the Ritz Carlton hotel chain as the operator for its €120m (£84m) new Powerscourt Hotel in Enniskerry, County Wicklow.

Located in the Powerscourt Estate which is a major tourist attraction and where Treasury has already developed two golf courses, the 300,000 sq ft hotel, will have 203 rooms, four lounge and restaurant areas and meeting rooms catering for up to 1,000 people.

Project director Dermod Dwyer, said the development would generate up to €60m (£42m) a year for Irish tourism.

Simon Cooper, President and COO of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C said:

“Our expansion into Ireland signifies an important strategic move for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

“With the Irish economy thriving, it is the ideal time to establish our world-renowned brand, which will set new standards in luxury accommodation in Ireland.”

Treasury Holdings have previously landed the prestigious Westin hotel chain as the operator for its Dublin city centre hotel and the Bewleys chain is operating its Leopardstown hotel.

It also plans other hotels for the Spencer Dock development in Dublin city centre as well as another tourist resort hotel for Milverton Demesne near Skerries in North county Dublin.

Ritz-Carlton currently operates hotels in Germany, Spain, Portugal and Italy in Europe.
