More than 20 bidders are battling for Advantage West Midlands’ 64-acre former colliery in Stoke-on-Trent.
ProLogis is determined to secure the Sideway site for a scheme that it believes will set new standards for environmentally friendly shed units, designed to supersede Gazeley’s award-winning EcoTemplate model.
English Partnerships is investing almost £10m in remediation and environmental work and is likely to be receptive to such proposals, sources said.
AWM, advised by King Sturge and Daniel & Hulme, says the site could accommodate a single building of up to 500,000 sq ft.
Midlands industrial specialists expect bids to exceed £250,000 per acre.
US real estate investment trust Liberty has teamed up with Stoford and Graftongate to bid for the site. Rosemound and Gazeley are also believed to be in the running.
