Around 200 delegates at the BCSC conference in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall were evacuated this morning after a security alert.
The alert occurred at about 11am, just 10 minutes after Land Securities’ chief executive Francis Salway had started to address the conference.
Staff at the hall took the decision to evacuate because of a threatening phonecall that
“had to be taken seriously”.
Delegates were asked to make their way to St George’s Market, where the BCSC’s retail showcase is being held.
This is the first time the conference has been held in Belfast.
