Plans for £60m retail park on Tees Valley site

Commercial Developments Projects has applied to Darlington Council for planning permission to transform a disused engineering plant into a £60m retail park.

The outline planning application is for a retail warehouse park including 260,000sq ft of retail space and 5,500sq ft of food retailing.

The Huddersfield-based developer said the 20-acre scheme, at the former Torrington factory in Yarm Road, Darlington, would provide space for several major retailers.

The development will house stores selling bulky goods and DIY products and will be next to an existing retail park on Yarm Road.

It is hoped the development will be open by 2007.
