ProLogis plans 569,000 sq ft Japanese scheme

US distribution giant ProLogis has announced that it will build a 569,000 sq ft logistics complex in Japan for Hitachi.

The five-storey facility will be developed in Osaka, with completion due in the second half of 2006.

It will be dubbed ‘ProLogis Parc Maishima II’.

The first ProLogis Parc Maishima, a 785,000 sq ft facility under development next door, is let to Askul Coropration, a Japanese distributor of stationery, electronics and business supplies.

There is additional land at the site which could be used to expand the facility.

The company has also let more than 500,000 sq ft of logistics space in Germany.

ProLogis will develop a 269,000 sq ft facility for GL Kayser Kontrakt Logistik, a third-party logistics operator, on a new site to the West of Frankfurt.

It will be used to service contracts with Markwins International and Weber-Stephen.

Geodis, another logistics specialist, has signed for an existing 220,000 sq ft facility in central Germany.
