Barking & Dagenham, in London, and Hastings in East Sussex, have won Local Enterprise Growth Initiative funds designed to stimulate enterprise in some of the most deprived areas.
They are two out of 15 local authorities to be awarded funds as part of the £126m scheme.
Barking & Dagenham won £15.5m of funding and Hastings, £3.6m.
