Liverpool’s Met Quarter opens with 50,000 footfall

Milligan’s Met Quarter retail development in Liverpool city centre has attained footfall figures in excess of 50,000 during its first four days of trading.

Visitor numbers at the 140,000 sq ft luxury-end scheme, which opened last Thursday, appeared to hold up well despite the heavy snow that hit Liverpool during the weekend.

Footfall figures are expected to increase this week following the opening of anchor store Flannels today.

Hobbs and Hugo Boss will also open later this week.

The scheme, on the site of the former post office on Whitechapel, contains 46 retail and leisure units.

Other retailers include Gieves, Timberland, Armani Exchange and Kurt Geiger.

Milligan was set up by John Milligan, a former Jones Lang LaSalle international director, in March 2002.

Savills and Markham Vaughan Gillingham are letting agents.
