The £400m redevelopment of the former Vauxhall car plant in Luton was given the go-ahead this week.
URUK’s and Laing O’Rourke’s Napier Park will be one of the South East’s largest regeneration projects.
Plans include 1,000 homes, 490,000 sq ft of offices, 128,000 sq ft of light industrial, a 200-bedroom hotel, 43,000 sq ft of shops, a 113,000 sq ft casino and a 40,000 sq ft conference centre.
URUK/Laing beat a host of other bidders to acquire the 55-acre site on Kimpton Road in June 2004.
