Nanjing delivers blow to Longbridge prospects

Nanjing Automobile has delivered a blow to the former Rover plant at Longbridge with the announcement it will start building MG cars in Ardmore, Oklahoma, in the US.

It had been expected that the cars would be built at Longbridge.

Nanjing says it still has plans for Longbridge with plans due to be announced next Monday that the factory will build the MG TF Roadster from 2008.

However, analysts believe annual production at the plant will be significantly less than in Oklahoma.
