Urban Splash dives in to Bristol’s Hartcliffe

Bristol developer Urban Splash has been given the green light to redevelop the run-down former Imperial Tobacco offices building in the city’s Hartcliffe area.

Planners have approved a scheme comprising more than 350 apartments, including 24 work-life units, and 19,650 sq ft of B1 office space for the building which has lain empty for 14 years.

Urban Splash hopes to begin work on the 4.5 ha site, to be called Lake Shore, later this year.

The building has been heavily vandalised since Imperial Tobacco vacated the former Willis factory and office site, much of which has been developed as Imperial Business Park.

English heritage has described Urban Splash’s plans for the remainder of the site as ‘bold and innovative.’
