British Land’s Cyril Metliss, now 83, reflects on a 35-year career at British Land in the Financial Times, describing his most productive period as “from the age of 72 onwards”.
Metliss, described as the “man behind the scenes” by the paper, says that while he retired from the British Land board at 79, he still acts as a consultant. “Any litigation, they bring me in. I’m a troubleshooter as well.”
Metliss describes Sir John Ritblat 12 years his junior as a “brother, but I would see him as an older brother”.
