The Financial Times reports how UK firms are exporting the building or funding of public infrastructure projects with private finance.
The Lombard column says the UK has reason to be proud of itself for the growth of PFI deals.
It says the nation’s head-start on PFI is similar to that enjoyed by the City’s merchant bankers in respect of advising on UK privatisations in the 1980s.
Lombard says the global success of UK construction companies selling their expertise on public/private infrastructure projects is long overdue. Balfour Beatty is currently bidding on five overseas projects.
