Gladedale appointed for Lincs regeneration scheme

Remo Dipre’s Gladedale Group has been appointed to regenerate the 13-acre Sleaford Maltings site in Lincolnshire.

The site’s eight Grade II listed buildings, which extend to 500,000 sq ft, are to be redeveloped into residential, office and retail space.

Owners GW Padley Properties appointed the residential specialist to prepare plans for the buildings. Gladedale hopes to secure planning consent for the whole of the Maltings by October next year.

The Maltings, which were built for Bass in 1905, were identified for regeneration by the Prince of Wales’ Phoenix Trust four years ago.

Since then there has been collaboration with North Kesteven District Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Sleaford Town Council and Lincolnshire Enterprise to prepare a development framework.

North Kesteven district councillor Pat Woodman, chairman of the Sleaford Maltings Project Group said: “The success of this project has been the result of close partnership working between all the local authorities, the regeneration agencies, the Trust and the Maltings’ owners.

“We are delighted that Gladedale has taken on the regeneration scheme that will add to the long term growth of Sleaford and central Lincolnshire.

“The project will add life to the community, provide housing and facilities and be a catalyst for further investment in central Lincolnshire, strengthening the county’s economy.”

Ross Brodie, group land and planning director of Gladedale. “We are very excited by the opportunities the Maltings offers.

“It is a challenging site of a huge scale for a market town but we are committed to the historic setting of the buildings and are determined to restore them to create a vibrant mix of uses which links in to the local community.”
