Woodford Land has received the go-ahead for a residential development on a former Boots site in Airdrie, Scotland.
North Lanarkshire Council granted the 620-residence scheme on a 27.7-acre site outline planning consent following six months of negotiation.
The scheme will consist of a mixture of three, four and five bedroom properties as well as two bedroom units within the Boots office building which will be retained at the front of the site.
Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Woodford Land.
Jason Hogg, from JLL, said: “This site presented a wide variety of challenging planning issues including economic land supply; transportation; master planning; ecology; and landscape.
“Woodford Land’s insistence on extensive pre-applications established a constructive working relationship with officials at North Lanarkshire Council and ultimately the smooth assessment of a complex application.
“Given Woodford’s commitment to the development process we are pleased that their efforts have been rewarded.”
Simon De Vere, senior land manager, Woodford Land (North Office), said: “Jones Lang LaSalle led the planning process from pre-acquisition through to the successful conclusion with the Planning and Environment Committee.
“The consent will now lead to the regeneration of this former manufacturing site and provide a positive end use following the departure of Boots.”
