Australian developer Westfield is courting US youth fashion brand Abercrombie & Fitch to take a store at its 1.6m sq ft shopping centre in White City, west London.
Sources close to both parties admitted discussions about a store at Westfield London were ongoing but said no deal had been secured.
Abercrombie is preparing to open its first UK shop at the former Jill Sander store at 7 Burlington Gardens, W1.
If Abercrombie does sign a deal at Westfield, it is likely to take space in the luxury mini-mall within the shopping centre.
The West Village, which will be devoted to designer brands, has already attracted interest from luxury goods retailer LVMH and jeweller Tiffany & Co.
The letting of Westfield London has been slow, with few retailers signed up.
House of Fraser is renegotiating its lease following its takeover by Icelandic retail giant Baugur in October, as Baugur believes it can secure a better deal because of the number of retail brands it owns.
Marks & Spencer, Next and Debenhams are the only other retailers officially signed up at Westfield London.
