Debenhams has signed up to anchor the proposed £95m Friarsgate retail-led scheme in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
The announcement comes just weeks after Lichfield council gave its support to Yorkshire developer S Harrison’s detailed planning application for the 400,000 sq ft scheme on the city’s Birmingham Road.
The proposal is currently with the secretary of state, for approval.
Debenhams will occupy 65,000 sq ft across two-storeys within the 250,000 sq ft retail element of the scheme, which also features a cinema, hotel, restaurants, flats, offices and a 740-space car park.
Harrison plans to start on site within 18 months.
