Yacht manufacturer buys 11.5-acre south coast site

Motor yacht manufacturer Sunseeker International has agreed outline terms with US-based Luhrs Marine to buy its Legend Yacht 11.5-acre manufacturing site at Osprey Quay, Portland, on the South Coast. Pool-based Sunseeker has acquired the site near Weymouth to meet increased worldwide demand for its vessels. Robert Braithwaite, managing director and founder of Sunseeker, said: “Osprey Quay is an ideal location for our future expansion plans, we are particularly pleased that we can continue to build the business locally. “I am sure that by moving a level of production to the Portland location we will be able to build on the company’s success.” Sunseeker has worked with the South West of England Regional Development Agency to secure the deal. South West RDA and Weymouth and Portlands Borough Council are heavily promoting the Osprey Quay regeneration scheme.
