Debenhams has been signed up to anchor Wilson Bowden’s 300,000 sq ft redevelopment of Macclesfield town centre. Debenhams, which is the anchor store for more than half the UK’s shopping centre development pipeline, will take an 80,000 sq ft store within the £200m scheme. It has agreed a 25-year lease. The scheme will create a further 50 shops and cafés and a 30,000 sq ft, eight-screen cinema. Wilson Bowden expects to start work on site in early 2009.
