BPF appoints Rupert Clarke as junior vice-president

Hermes Real Estate Investment Management chief executive Rupert Clarke has been appointed junior vice-president of the British Property Federation (BPF).

Rupert Clarke

Clarke, who has more than 26 years experience in the industry, was previously managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s corporate financing business before joining Hermes.

Clarke’s appointment comes as the BPF prepares to reorganise its officer line-up for the next 12 months.

Land Securities chief executive Francis Salway moves from junior vice-president to vice-president while Ian Marcus, managing director and head of European real estate investment banking at Credit Suisse, replaces the outgoing Nick Ritblat as president.

Clarke said: “I am delighted to be accepted onto the board of the BPF and to become junior vice-president, and very much look forward to working alongside Francis Salway and Ian Marcus over the coming year to forge ahead with the BPF’s agenda.

“It is a time of change for the property industry with REITs in place and green issues coming to the fore, but whatever challenges these may create, there are also many opportunities that the industry will continue to seize.”
