Brontë sisters’ home sold


Eddisons sold the Brontë sisters’ birthplace at its Leeds football stadium sale last week. The property failed to reach its £180,000 in the room but sold post to an anonymous private investor. Totals raised peaked at £12.6m from a 64% conversion rate. Tony Webber, auctioneer, said: “We are now actively assessing pre-auction offers and advising clients to sell if we deem the sum the best outcome” The number of sold priors was 17 out of 113 lots.


Liverpool digs market fuels sales of mid range homes


Merseyside auctioneer Sutton Kersh’s sale at Liverpool’s Marriot Hotel City Centre, saw parents buying student accommodation and fuelling bidding on residential lots priced between £65,000 and £100,000. Director James Kersh said: “Areas synonymous with students, lots in well-established suburbs or close to completion regeneration areas, showed most gains.”


£1.8m for Scottish Water


SVA Property Auctions raised £1.8m, a sale rate of 88%, last week achieving 100% success on eight properties offered on behalf of Scottish Water. Shaun Vigers, auctioneer, said: “Fife council secured £780,000 under the hammer, and averaged prices of two to three times guides.


Med auctions profile raised Stretton Edwin Evans renewed its bid to raise the profile of auctions in the Mediterranean with a launch of its partnership with Cypriot firm Antonis Loizou. The event was attended by Neoclis Silikiotis, Cyprus minister for the interior, who spoke about political initiatives to speed up the property market processes.
