Grainger promotes Scrivener to development MD

Grainger, the UK’s largest quoted residential landlord, has promoted Andrew Scrivener to managing director of its development business.

Scrivener joined Grainger 18 months ago from Multiplex Developments, and replaces Richard Exley who is leaving to join Spink Property, a central London architect and developer.

Grainger has a £1bn development pipeline. It has recently focused on mixed-use development building a pipeline with the potential to create up to 7,000 residential units and 2m sq ft of commercial.

Last week it gained outline planning permission for a 326-acre development in Waterlooville in Hampshire, of 1,550 homes and 1m sq ft of commercial space.

Major projects include a 50:50 joint venture with Development Securities on a 1.4m sq ft mixed-use scheme in central Birmingham.

Scrivener said: “Building on the foundations laid in the past two years, Grainger’s development team aims to expand the company’s development programme, delivering large-scale mixed use schemes in which we will retain a long term stake through our other business activities.”
