Plans submitted for £250m Lewisham redevelopment

Muse Developments and Taylor Wimpey have lodged detailed plans for their £250m regeneration of Lewisham town centre in south east London.

The joint venture’s 1m sq ft mixed-use Lewisham Gateway scheme proposes 800 homes, a five to six-screen cinema within around 80,000 sq ft of leisure, 150,000 sq ft of shops, and some offices in 11 buildings, including three residential tower blocks.

If the plans are approved by Lewisham council, site preparation works will begin next summer, with the scheme being completed in a number of phases over a six year period.

Muse, formerly Amec Developments, and Taylor Woodrow, now part of Taylor Wimpey, have been working at proposals for the 4.9-acre town centre site for seven years.

Charlie Fulford, LGD’s project director said: “Working in partnership with the public sector, we are taking a bleak roundabout and replacing it with a scheme that reconnects Lewisham’s town centre with its train and bus stations.”
