SCS signs sweet deal

South Wales-based industrial landlord Formaction has let 39,000 sq ft of the former Wrigley’s Confectionery plant it acquired last year.

Joint agents Herbert R Thomas and Middleton Perry have signed UK furniture retailer SCS, which has agreed terms at 160,000 sq ft building on the Waterton Industrial Estate, Bridgend.

It follows a major refurbishment of the premises, acquired following the decision by the sweet manufacturer to end production in late 2005 with the loss of more than 170 jobs.

Tim Vaughan, of Herbert R Thomas, acted alongside Jones Lang La Salle on the building’s £3.6m sale to Formaction.

“The retail market continues to be a strong source of requirements for buildings such as this, which are finding new uses under the ownership of landlords prepared to invest,” he said.
