The Confederation of British Industry will call on the government today to provide clarity about its intentions for the future of PFI deals.
It will tell a conference on PFI today that there are fears for the future of such deals because private support from ministers was “not being reflected in the very public project cancellations or postponements” that have occurred.
Neil Bentley, director of public services at the employers’ organisation, will say that the termination of projects such as a £700m Leicester hospitals deal and a 700-cell PFI prison in Scotland does not just damage confidence but means money spent on bidding is wasted.
