Coplan gets green light for Bedford scheme

Coplan Estates, the developer set up last year by St Modwen’s former London office head Nick Doyle, has gained consent for a £15m mixed-use scheme in Bedford town centre.
The scheme comprises 71 houses, 20,000 sq ft of shops, a 17,000 sq ft foodstore, a 9,000 sq ft community centre and a 7,000 sq ft medical centre.
It is backed by a £1.79m grant under the Government’s Growth Area programme.
Colin McQueston, director of Coplan Estates, said: “The planning decision represents a major boost to the Council’s regeneration plans to develop Bedford for the 21st century and to provide residents with the best facilities to meet their needs and a successful place to live, work and shop.”
Cushman & Wakefield advised Coplan.
