Travelodge signs for Spalding scheme

The Springfields Outlet Shopping Centre in Spalding, Lincolnshire, has exchanged contracts with budget hotel chain Travelodge to create a 43-bedroom hotel in the centre.

The £1.4m hotel forms part of a phase-two extension to the existing outlet centre.

Planning for the new hotel has been granted by South Holland council and construction is due to start later this year.

The build, led by developer Chester Properties/UBS Triton Property Fund is expected to complete in July 2008.

Tony O’Brien Travelodge’s development director said: “As part of our aggressive nationwide growth plan, we aim to open 3,000 rooms in 2008 – Spalding Travelodge will play an important role in ensuring we achieve this goal.”
