Land Securities plans to start work early next year on the largest phase of its regeneration of north Kent’s Ebbsfleet Valley after gaining the final all clear for its Eastern Quarry mixed-use scheme.

LandSec concluded a £110m Section 106 agreement with Dartford and Kent councils last week.

The infrastructure funding package was the final hurdle holding up development of LandSec’s Eastern Quarry scheme, which comprises 6,250 homes, 1.29m sq ft of offices, 250,000 sq ft of retail and 120,000 sq ft of hotels and leisure in three villages at Watling Street, Swanscombe, close to Bluewater.

The scheme forms the largest element of LandSec’s 20-year, 1,450-acre Ebbsfleet Valley regeneration project.

It gained outline consent in July and has since received the backing of the Government Office for the South East of England.

LandSec said it now planned to be on site at Eastern Quarry in the early part of next year.
