Plaza to build €90m Polish shopping centre

Property developer Plaza Centers has bought a 613,562 sq ft plot in Kielce, Poland, for the development of a shopping and leisure centre.

The site was bought from PKS Kielce, the local branch of the Polish Bus Company, for an undisclosed amount.

The €90m (£67m) centre will include 430,570 sq ft of leasing space for retail and entertainment operators, and 1,200 car parking spaces.

Ran Shtarkman, president of Plaza Centers, said: “Kielce is a fast-growing city which currently has only very limited high-quality retail outlets or entertainment facilities to offer.

“We are delighted to develop this major new scheme which will deliver an exciting modern commercial and cultural centre for the inhabitants of Kielce and visitors to the city.”

Plaza was listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in October 2007, and has built, managed and sold a total of seven shopping centres across Poland.

Construction is expected to begin in the middle of 2009, with completion at nthe beginning of 2011.
