Sol Melia suspends acquisition programme

Spain’s largest hotel group, Sol Melia, is suspending its acquisition programme in the wake of its takeover of the Tryp group. According to the company chairman, Sol needed some time to bed in the Tryp deal. He added that his company was not a candidate to buy Le Méridien, which is now about to be taken over by Nomura. The Sol Melia Tryp merger means that altogether the number of hotels controlled by the group will rise from 342 to 421.
