Dutch landlords back e-leasing platform

An internet-based leasing marketplace will launch in the Netherlands early next year with support from owners representing around 80% of Dutch institutional property holdings.

The site, www.m2match.com, will be an independent e-leasing platform for office retail and industrial space. Landlords, which will use the site to offer rental properties, own, manage or are developing around 12m m2 of space in the Netherlands with a combined value of €20bn.

Initial shareholders from the Netherlands include Achmea, Ahold Real Estate, Fortis Real Estate, ING Real Estate, Multi Development Corporation, Rodamco Nederland, Uni-Invest and Vastned O&I.

The platform will match supply and demand requirements from landlords and tenants respectively. It will also generate research based on the aggregated demand and supply information.

The site, which will be launched in quarter one 2001, is expected to be replicated in other European countries. The company is run by Elias Woudenberg, former vice president in real estate, at JP Morgan.
