SC-ER appoints new self storage CEO

Security Capital European Realty has appointed a new chief executive to its self-storage businesses in Europe and Asia.

Jonathan Duck, previously portfolio director for Bass Leisure Retail, will run Access, the largest European self-storage provider with 68 properties, as well as SC-ERs self-storage activities in Australia, Millers Self-Storage.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining the Access and Millers teams at this critical stage in their development. My immediate focus will be on developing the consumer offer and brand within Europe, and increasing Accesss presence in key urban markets.”

Tom Allin, managing director of Security Capital Group Inc, the largest shareholder in SC-ER, has been acting chief executive at Access until Ducks appointment.

He said: “The self-storage marketplace has become increasingly competitive. Jonathan brings with him significant retail experience, and a deep understanding of what it is that customers need and want. This expertise will be invaluable in growing our business.”
