Tanagra clinches record rent for La Défense in Paris

Tanagra, the company controlled by quoted French property company Unibail, has clinched the first letting at its Coeur Défense project in La Défense at a record rent for the Paris district.

Crédit Lyonnais bank has agreed to take 30,000 sq m (322,927 sq ft) of offices in buildings B2 and B3 at around FFr2,800 per sq m a month. The rent is comparable to prime rents presently being achieved in Paris’ Central Business District.

The bank is moving its information technology department to the Coeur Défense development in spring 2001. It says it was attracted to the development because of its location and the large floorplates.

The landmark Coeur Défense, designed by architect Jean-Paul Viguier, comprises twin 39-storey towers and three 8-storey buildings with a linking atrium.

The project, known as Le Parvis, occupies the last available site overlooking the main central plaza of La Défense. Tanagra’s scheme totals some 185,000 sq m (1.99m sq ft), including 160,000 sq m (1.79m sq ft) of offices, a conference centre, shops, and 2,800 private parking spaces.
