Former CBRE chief faces legal action over consultancy start-up

Alan Froggatt, the former European chief executive of  CB Richard Ellis, is being threatened with legal action.

Project management company Trident Building Consultancy has instructed Olswang to write to Froggatt and the three other directors of a new property consultancy that he will chair.

Froggatt announced last month that he had become chairman of a new property consultancy, called Trident Corporate Real Estate.

The 30-strong firm was formed out of the merger of Peter Boros’s CPM Consulting, Mike Pritchard’s Commercial Relocation Consultants and Keith Martindale’s Martindale CRE.

Trident Building Consultancy claims that it has built up an established brand and that Froggatt’s new company is “passing off” its name.

It said that Froggatt’s use of Trident would cause it substantial damage for which it would be entitled to compensation. It has written to the group, asking it to stop using the name or face legal proceedings.
