Modus/Stoford selected for Stafford regeneration scheme

Staffordshire council has appointed developers Modus and Stoford for a £25m development at Tipping Street in the centre of Stafford.

The West Midlands scheme proposes two six-storey buildings comprising 150,000 sq ft of offices taken by the county council for headquarters, and between15,000 sq ft and 20,000 sq ft of shops.

The car park on the site will be demolished.

Robert Simpson, Staffordshire council deputy leader, said: “Both Modus and Stoford have a track record in creating buildings with a buzz that attract new business, create jobs and transforms the environment for the better.”

Neal Dales, Modus development director, said: “Tipping Street represents an opportunity to create an iconic building for the County of Staffordshire to be proud of and will assist the delivery of the wider regeneration agenda across the town.”

A planning application is to be submitted during the summer, with completion scheduled for late 2009.
