Staff at Field Fisher Waterhouse’s real estate team are at risk of redundancy.
In a statement, Paul Houston, head of real estate at the firm, said: “We can confirm that in response to the current market conditions the firm is beginning a consultation on a redundancy programme that will affect several fee earners in our real estate department.
“This is of course regrettable, however we need to take tough decisions and refocus our real estate practice to respond to the effects of the credit crunch.
“We will continue to invest in our real estate capability, in particular in those areas such as property and planning litigation where we see potential for growth in these difficult times.”
The news follows headlines concerning departures and downsizing in the real estate teams at other well-known firms, such as Howard Kennedy, Bevan Brittan and McGrigors.
