Plans have been lodged for the Scottish Borders’s first five-star hotel.
Scottish developer Manor Kingdom Estates, advised by Knight Frank, submitted plans for the £50m Rutherford Castle Hotel to the Scottish Borders council last week.
Hotel operator De Vere has been signed to run the 150-bedroom hotel which includes a spa and leisure club, cafés restaurants and conference rooms on an 18-acre site in West Linton, a small village to the south of Edinburgh.
Work is expected to start on site later this year following planning permission.
Knight Frank partner David Innes said: “The proposals for Rutherford Castle Hotel are a major boost for the Borders and will create a significant number of new jobs and boost the local economy.
“It’s a really exciting development for West Linton and will create a hotel that the community can be proud of. Every element of this development has been carefully considered to ensure that it offers guests the best five-star surroundings in an area of natural beauty.”
