Bath and North East Somerset council is suing Carillion over delays to the Bath Spa complex which opened five years late at a cost of almost three times the original budget.
The council blames design and workmanship failings at Mowlem which Carillion bought in 2006 “and/or other parties in connection with the “design and/or workmanship and/or supervision of the project”.
It is claiming £12m. Carillion has previously filed a claim for £2.5m against the council which it blames for the problems. Carillion refused to comment any further because it said the matter was “commercially sensitive and confidential”.
