McCabe has time for tee

Property veteran Kevin McCabe has been appointed chairman of Lyle Anderson, the owner of Scottish golf club Loch Lomond.

Members of the golf club – which include Scott Murdoch, owner of retail agent CWM, Prince Andrew and Sir Sean Connery – have been trying to buy the club since Lyle Anderson failed to renegotiate its debts with HBOS last year.

However, McCabe, who is chairman of Sheffield United and owner of Scarborough Group, this week said that a sale was not being considered.

“Loch Lomond is a very valuable asset,” said McCabe. “Although a number of parties have approached us, we have no intention of selling the club until the climate improves. If we get an extraordinary offer for it, then that is different.”
